They Say Jump

They Say Jump

Collapsing the brass-laden tones of Latin and jazz with the jauntiness of reggae and ska, They Say Jump’s sound is designed to make you dance, sweat and, as their name suggests, jump.

Characterised by a sensual and melodic blend of latin brass sections, reggae tones and drum ‘n’ bass rhythms, They Say Jump’s newest release is a tonic of genres and inspirations. Pulling various influences from the chilled reggae textures of Bob Marley, to the dicey rhythms of ska bands like The Specials and The Police, They Say Jump are readymade for both the dance floor and the relaxed surroundings of the living room.

The band have gained a favourable reputation for their energetic and lively gig performances, and they have translated this wild energy into their new EP. Lead single ‘Can’t Chase Me’ is a swarm of off-beat reggae guitars, latin horns and pounding drums. Setting the tone for the rest of the EP, ‘Can’t Chase Me’ reflects the vast array of influences that the band incorporates into their music. Switching things up from fast-paced dance anthems like ‘Can’t Chase Me’ to the slower, more melodic tracks like ‘Reggae Music’ and ‘Twilight’, the fusion troop are both expressive and versatile in their musical style and abilities.
